Black Angel is a short fantasy film by Roger Christian, the Academy Award-winning set decorator from Star Wars – Episode IV: A New Hope. The film was commissioned by George Lucas and was attached to screenings of The Empire Strikes Back in select theaters in 1980. Last year, we wrote about the origins of the film and how it was missing for more than 30 years before it was found and fully restored.
That restored version was made available via iTunes last year. However, if you still haven’t seen Black Angel, you’re in for a treat. The entire film is now available to watch online, for a limited time only. In fact, you can watch it right here.
As an added bonus, there is an exclusive introduction by director Roger Christian. So, sit back and enjoy the film Steven Spielberg called “one of the most enigmatic films” he’d ever seen.
While not directly part of the galaxy far, far away, Black Angel remains an interesting part of Star Wars history, and we are fortunate that it is available.
