Rancho Obi-Wan
There are some new announcements from Rancho Obi-Wan today…

There is a new sponsor!

Rancho Obi-Wan has a tasty new corporate sponsor. Little Debbie, largest producer of snack cakes in the U.S., has become the official snack cake of Rancho Obi-Wan, home of the world’s largest collection of Star Wars memorabilia. Fans who already have toured Rancho know that there are snacks waiting near the end of each tour, served on a large TIE fighter display that first appeared on the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars” and then at a VIP party at Star Wars Celebration VI. The display will now be filled by delicious Little Debbie Cosmic Cupcakes, Cloud Cakes and other goodies. Little Debbie, which has signed on for a multi-year sponsorship, is the main brand of McKee Foods, a Collegedale, Tennessee family-owned and run company.

Some lucky fans will be able to celebrate May the Fourth at the Rancho!

A group of lucky donors, each bringing a friend, will have a chance to celebrate the worldwide Star Wars “holiday” in the ultimate Star Wars environment. The lucky donors include Kate Orzikh of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; Thomas Merritt of St Simons Island, GA; Vince Zannelli of Moreno Valley, CA; Christopher Bird of Modesto, CA; Jeff Ellis of San Francisco, CA; Chris Vanderhoof of Blacksburg, VA; Shane Billings of Eugene, OR; Kevin Jessop of Marietta, GA; and David Searle of Sacramento, CA. Rancho staff and volunteers will also be attending.

The intimate celebration includes a guided tour of the museum with collection owner Steve Sansweet, lunch, a screening of the Blu-ray version of Star Wars on the big 80-inch screen in 5.1 surround stereo, and other goodies. Thanks to all of you who took part by making a donation to Rancho!

Looking to get married or hold a special event at Rancho Obi-Wan? Now you can!

Rancho-Obi Wan has a new 700-square-foot events room. We inaugurated it on April 4th with a sit-down lunch and a tour for 65 guests of Choice Collectibles, an East Coast-based art publisher. We’ve since had two catered business dinners and evening tours.

You too can arrange a special event at Rancho-a wedding, business meeting, team-building event, special birthday, anniversary, or whatever-by contacting Rancho general Manager Anne Neumann at

The next Rancho Obi-Wan fundraiser is set for September.

You’ll want to be at Rancho for our second fundraising gala on Saturday evening Sept. 20. If you were here for last year’s World Record Night, you know it’s one of the most amazing parties in the galaxy. And if you missed it, here’s another chance. Further details will be announced soon, but you can expect great food and refreshments, stupendous auction items, entertainment, and lots of exclusive giveaways and surprises!

Look for a huge Rancho Obi-Wan spread in the May/June issue of Star Wars Insider!

There’s a great six-page photo-filled story on Rancho Obi-Wan in the current issue of Star Wars INSIDER (#149, May/June 2014 with General Grievous on the cover). It’s written by ace freelancer and blogger Amy Ratcliffe and really goes into the reasons why Rancho came about and what our hopes and dreams are for the near and long-term future. And there are comments from James Arnold Taylor, Cat Taber and Sam Witwer about what ROW means to them. Pick up a copy today!

There’s some cool stuff going on in the Rancho Obi-Wan blog…

See cool photos and fun stories written exclusively for the new Rancho Obi-Wan blog by our directors and other friends. After an introductory blog by Steve, former Lucas Books editor Sue Rostoni revealed how she and sound designer Ben Burtt were almost on the cover of a Star Wars book that he wrote-and why she’s thrilled it didn’t happen. Check out that never-before-seen cover. And see and read about a very niche area of collecting-a piece on Star Wars air-sickness bags by Gus Lopez.

And, don’t forget about the awesome deals!

Even though our hugely successful Rancho Obi-Thon auction is finished, we’ve restocked the Rancho eBay store to continue our Dupe Deals fundraiser. These are all items from the vast duplicate collection of Rancho, and all come with a certificate stating that. Check out the store.

The money raised goes toward maintenance, utilities, security, professional services, community outreach programs and other necessary outlays. We truly appreciate your support!
