In case you were unable to catch the Heroines of Star Wars panel at Star Wars Celebration yesterday, here’s a bit of what you missed, as well as the reveal of The Black Series 6-inch Grand Admiral Thrawn figure with Dave Filoni and Timothy Zahn:
Moderated by Amy Ratcliffe (host of “Lattes with Leia” podcast), fans in attendance enjoyed a conversation about strong female characters central to the Star Wars universe and how they have inspired generations of fans; panelists included: Dave Filoni (executive producer Star Wars Rebels), Ashley Eckstein (“Ahsoka Tano”), Tiya Sircar (“Sabine Wren”) and surprise guest Daisy Ridley (“Rey”). The three actresses were surprised on stage with the reveal of their new Adventure Figures by Hasbro from the just-announced Star Wars Forces of Destiny. As part of the reveal, fans were treated to a sneak peek at the first animated Forces of Destiny short, which will launch on Disney YouTube in July 2017.

Sure, Celebration Europe has come to an end, but videos of the panels and interview highlights are still trickling onto the internet. One of the most exciting panels was for Star Wars Rebels. CELEBRATION EUROPE: DAY TWO — A Guest Blog by Walt Fishon
When the day began, he was a character excised from the canon, leading a person walking by him to ask, “How does it feel to know you don’t exist?” After the Rebels panel, he found himself posing for photo after photo, even one with Andi Gutierrez and Peter Townley, hosts of The Star Wars Show (check out Guitierrez’ Twitter for the photo).
By the end of the day, when asked if it was ok to take a photo, he apologized for his fading makeup. “It’s been quite a day!” he said.
JUST … IMAGES REALLY, FEELINGS …
If you were to ask me what I remember about Saturday, April 18th 2015, my answer would be: “Just … images really, feelings.” And yet, it’s a day that I’ll never forget.
No, this isn’t going to be a symbolic blog or even anything remotely close. Nor will it be, creatively or critically, thought-provoking. What it will be, is an open-window passageway, or reflection, on my personal experiences of that day; a Rebels reconnection.
Of course, by the time you read this post, some of you will have already seen the premiere of Star Wars Rebels: “The Siege of Lothal,” but back then, on April 18th, that was not the case. In fact, I can’t even put into words, the amount of excitement and gratefulness that I still have, for all of those responsible in giving me such an awesome opportunity and a sea full of shoaling emotional memories. Hence the phrase, “just … images really, feelings.”
There is always something magical about Disney. No matter what your age is, when ever you drive through the gates, the excitement begins to build, and once you enter the parks, your inner child burst forth and you can’t stop grinning and just being there is fun.
Or so you thought….until you go to Hollywood Studios for Star Wars Weekends. That’s right folks, it’s the magic of Disney with all the added spice of the saga we all love. And what happens when you cross the two???? Heaven. Simply heaven.
