I have to admit, this is the quietest and slowest end of May and soon-to-be beginning of June that I have experienced in years. Sure, I’m still working 40+ hours a week, my oldest daughter has more extracurricular activities this year than ever before, and my parents are visiting, but it’s not the same. My weekends are slow and duller than they have been in years past.
The second season of Star Wars Rebels has come to an end, but you can still keep up with the voice behind Ahsoka Tano as Ashley Eckstein lends her talents to the audio version of the first book from Her Universe Press, Weirdest by Heather Nuhfer. Additional voices are provided by James Arnold Taylor.
The book is scheduled for publication on May 3, but you can listen to a sneak peek of Ashley reading the first chapter at the link below:
So it’s been a little over a month since Disney wrapped up week five of Star Wars Weekends. Being there all five weeks was exhausting, but quite rewarding. I know this particular blog is a little later than I wanted, but to give you some insight, in the middle of the weekends we discovered we were having to move from our home of 4 years by the end of June. Not only was the move unexpected, my family and I had nowhere to go. Fortunately the doors we needed opened and we found a place to go, but it was about 1200 square feet smaller. I have to throw a special shout out to my best friend Robbie, without him, that move would have been impossible to have completed. Thank you buddy, we make a better team than Han and Chewie.
Now down to business. Star Wars Weekends 2015.
So, coming off of week two, I was thinking the weekends couldn’t get any better than that. Then week three happened. It was not only the most fun to date, but I was more active this week than any other. I have the blisters on the bottoms of my feet to prove it.
The day started out a lot later than normal, with me arriving in the autograph lines about quarter till seven on Saturday morning. The reason being is a few days earlier I had no voice, so I figured it would be better to get a little more rest than push myself and knock myself out for the long count. It worked out great as my partner in crime Robert and I both secured passes to meet the man behind Zeb, Steve Blum.
Time sure flies when you are having fun. Like the blink of an eye, week two of Star Wars Weekends came to a close Sunday, and what a day it was. This weekend brought us the very talented Warwick Davis (Wicket from Return of the Jedi), Silas Carson (Ki-Adi-Mundi and Nute Gunray from the prequels), and the lovely Vanessa Marshall from Star Wars Rebels.
Now I will admit, I did change my plans. I originally wanted to meet Silas Carson, since he was someone I haven’t had the opportunity to meet. Yet, after walking through my memories of last year, I really wanted to see Vanessa again. So, Silas took a back seat as I arrived at Hollywood Studios and jumped into line to claim my chance to see Hera all over again.
There is always something magical about Disney. No matter what your age is, when ever you drive through the gates, the excitement begins to build, and once you enter the parks, your inner child burst forth and you can’t stop grinning and just being there is fun.
Or so you thought….until you go to Hollywood Studios for Star Wars Weekends. That’s right folks, it’s the magic of Disney with all the added spice of the saga we all love. And what happens when you cross the two???? Heaven. Simply heaven.
Celebration is over.
I was unable to go this year but through StarWars.com’s live stream and all the great coverage from Dan, Cory, and my fellow bloggers here, I definitely felt like I was there. So I want to take this quick moment to thank my CWK family as well as everyone at StarWars.com who ran the live stream for all of their coverage! It was definitely the next best thing to being there in person!
With that said, let us turn our eyes to Star Wars next big event: Star Wars Weekends 2015!
We are just weeks away from opening weekend and this promises to be an incredible year! With an impressive guest list covering the movies to Rebels and The Clone Wars; I know my schedule will be busy for sure. With special guests like Ian McDiarmid and Frank Oz in the mix as well, we are looking at a couple of record-setting weekends when it comes to attendance like we had last year with Mark Hamill.
