Well, I’m back from Celebration Orlando. A grand time was had by all. Or at least by most. Probably by all. It wasn’t without its hiccups, but what large gathering of 60,000 people isn’t? The short version of my experience is this: It was great to see some friends again after 2 years, and great to meet some new friends for the first time, including my Comics With Kenobi co-host, the illustrious Mr. Matt Moore. There were a few nice surprises, which I’m sure you’ve read about already: Harrison Ford and George Lucas onstage for the 40th Anniversary Panel, John Williams playing Princess Leia’s theme as part of a tribute to Carrie Fisher, and the reveal of the teaser for The Last Jedi, to name just a few. There was one moment that was simultaneously somewhat surprising and not shocking in the least. Read on to find out what it was!
Here is our report from Day Two of Celebration Orlando, including interviews with Star Wars fans on the convention floor, as well as initial reactions to the teaser trailer of The Last Jedi from Dan Z, Cory Clubb, Jeff McGee of Comics With Kenobi & Marvin Dog Media, and Scott Murray of Assembly of Geeks. We also catch up with The Star Wars Heresies author, Paul McDonald. Live from the Convention floor, this is the podcast you’re looking for!
The Star Wars Podcast Awards are back for 2017, and voting is now open. Fans will be able to vote for their favorites in a wide variety of categories, but it’s no easy task! There are a lot of shows to choose from.
The Coffee With Kenobi family has garnered nominations in five categories, as noted below:

We look at the nuance, texture, characters, and music of Rogue One, and discuss the new film’s impact on the Star Wars saga. This is the podcast you’re looking for!
It’s finally here. It took three recording sessions, six World Series games (Spoilers: CUBS WIN!), two trans-Atlantic crossings, one move and MULTIPLE cups of coffee, but episode 24 is ready for your listening pleasure.
On our last show of 2015, Coffee With Kenobi takes an in-depth look at The Force Awakens with our entire Coffee With Kenobi podcast family. Jeff McGee & Matt Moore of Comics With Kenobi, Randy Therio & Luke Seiters of Legends Library, and Aaron Harris of Rebels Reactions join us as we begin to look at the most intriguing aspects of the new Star Wars film. We discuss characters that spoke to us the most, future topics for the show, what this new film means for Star Wars, and much more. This is the podcast you’re looking for!
This time it’s really issue 10 and we’re three-fifths of the way through Chewbacca and seeing some solid character development for our favorite walking carpet and learning even more about some of our favorite characters and how they deal with adversity.
Oh, and DENGAR!
For issue nine — not 10, we swear it — things get deep as we discuss the conclusion of Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens — Shattered Empire, noting not just its role in leading up to The Force Awakens, but how it exemplifies a shift in attitude toward major female characters not named Princess Leia or Mon Mothma, that being that they not just survive, but appear to thrive.
It’s a cornucopia of Star Wars comics, with five titles to be examined this week, including the conclusion of the Lando mini-series — it’s so amazing that we had to bring in writer Charles Soule to discuss what happened and why HE wrote it like he did. There’s also more hints about The Force Awakens and nods to the prequel and original trilogies, too.
It’s a guest-star special as Marvel Comics’ Heather Antos, the assistant editor on the publisher’s Star Wars comics, takes time to discuss the art of herding writers, artists, colorists and letterers, all the while keeping to schedule and juggling the deep mysteries that is Star Wars lore.
