“Star Wars and the Power of Costume” Comes to the Buckeye State

Cincinnati, Ohio celebrated forty years of The Force in spectacular fashion, as the Cincinnati Museum Center unveiled its latest traveling exhibit, Star Wars and the Power of Costume on May 25.  The showcase is made possible through a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) and the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art.

Upon entering, visitors are magically transported to the galaxy far, far away as they come up close to over sixty of real, screen-used costumes of iconic characters from A New Hope to The Force Awakens. Read more

Star Wars: The Last Jedi — New City, Characters, and Images Revealed by Vanity Fair

Yesterday we saw the four new limited-edition Vanity Fair covers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. They promised us even more images today and have delivered in a massive way! Not just the new images, though, but new character and city reveals as well.

With the new images released today, all captured by the great Annie Leibovitz, we get a closer look at the characters we already love — Luke, Rey, Leia, Kylo Ren, Poe, Finn, and more — but we also get our first look at new characters such as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, played by Laura Dern, and a shady grifter-type character called “DJ,” played by Benicio Del Toro.

Disney’s Newest Star Tours Adventure Ties in to ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’

Last week, in the midst of everything going on at Star Wars Celebration, Disney Parks announced the new destination for its Star Tours attraction. As seen in the new teaser trailer for The Last Jedi, the new location is the mineral planet of Crait, where you’ll find yourself in the middle of an epic battle between the forces of darkness and light.

The news was revealed by Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald and Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) during the Star Wars and Disney Parks: A Galaxy in the Making panel. You can see video of the revelation below. The announcement comes near the end, after a bit of an oral history of Star Tours.

Star Wars Celebration Orlando | Anthony Daniels and Riz Ahmed Just Announced!

ANTHONY DANIELS AND RIZ AHMED COMING TO STAR WARS CELEBRATION ORLANDO
THE ACTORS BEHIND C-3PO AND BODHI ROOK WILL BE SIGNING AUTOGRAPHS IN ORLANDO THIS APRIL!

Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) and Riz Ahmed (Bodhi Rook in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) are now confirmed for the mega-event. They will be signing autographs at the Star Wars Celebration Autograph Hall in Orlando this April, The Topps Company and Authenticators, Inc. announced today.

Daniels is both a Star Wars and Star Wars Celebration legend. He has played C-3PO since the release of the original Star Wars: A New Hope in 1977, including voiceover work in video games and animation, and most recently in Rogue One; at the very first Celebration, he famously visited fans waiting in the rain, and his panels are among the most highly-anticipated. Ahmed, a new fan favorite, comes to Celebration for the second time, and is making his first appearance since the release of Rogue One.

My Recap of Birthday-Worthy Star Wars Reveals!

Jay’s Galactic Espressions

On my 46th birthday (July 16), I was reduced to my 10-year-old self. I laughed, jumped for joy, squeed more than a few times, and quite literally performed at least one happy dance. My eyes were a little brighter, and my steps a little lighter. All because of Star Wars.

And that’s a good thing…a VERY good thing!

When it comes to Star Wars, I’m a big kid at heart anyway, as I’m most (or all) of you reading this right now can relate. Overall, it’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan, but with all of the news that came out of Star Wars Celebration Europe (SWCE) over the last few days, my kid-o-meter has flown off the charts!

Star Wars Celebration Europe: Day Two — A Guest Blog by Walt Fishon

CELEBRATION EUROPE: DAY TWO —  A Guest Blog by Walt Fishon

He is Mitth’raw’nuruodo, more commonly known as Thrawn. The individual behind the
thrawn blue face paint in the photo above remains a mystery, but he had one helluva day at Celebration Saturday.

When the day began, he was a character excised from the canon, leading a person walking by him  to ask, “How does it feel to know you don’t exist?” After the Rebels panel, he found himself posing for photo after photo, even one with Andi Gutierrez and Peter Townley, hosts of The Star Wars Show (check out Guitierrez’ Twitter for the photo).

By the end of the day, when asked if it was ok to take a photo, he apologized for his fading makeup. “It’s been quite a day!” he said.

C-3PO, Captain America, and My Mother-In-Law

What do C-3PO, Captain America, and my mother-in-law have in common? Besides all of the adoring fans, you ask. The correct answer is I actually spent time with all three of them a couple of weeks ago at Salt Lake Comic Con. The comic con that Stan Lee in 2014 called “the greatest comic con in the world” was even greater in 2015 with the addition of one of the biggest movie stars alive. Chris Evans, that is. Not my mother-in-law. Although I will be voting for her as a guest in 2016.

Star Wars Celebration VII Anaheim Experience – Epiblog 3 – “The Return of the Line”

CWK Logo 2Darth T-Bone’s Sithly Vanilla Latte

In Epiblog 3 of my ongoing Star Wars Celebration VII Anaheim experience, we come to…well, more lines. Last month I wrote about the line experience just for day one. This month’s blog will cover the next two days of the convention. It was all about the autographs! This was the first time in all my con years that I pre-purchased autographs. Little did I know just how much time it would take to accomplish. Little did I also know how great it is to meet the stars that are a big part of the movies you love.

Star Wars Celebration VII Anaheim Experience – Epiblog 1 – “We’re home”

CWK Logo 2Well hello CWK and Star Wars Fans! It has certainly been an exciting couple of weeks for Star Wars Fans. Somewhere around 100,000 of us flocked to Anaheim, California for the amazing Star Wars Celebration VII. I could go on for days about my experience, but I’m going to break it up into Epiblogs. If that’s not a word yet, I claim it.

Did you happen to see any good trailers lately? Well, if you were lucky like us you got to see it (twice) at Star Wars Celebration VII Anaheim! For those of you that couldn’t make it, hopefully you were streaming it live. What a great way to share the Celebration experience. Once they announced the simulcast I was so happy for the fans that couldn’t make it. Another great aspect was getting to sleep a little later. I knew we didn’t have to get there at the crack of dawn to get in line to see JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy open the event. With 11 San Diego Comic Cons and 1 Celebration (IV) under our belts, we have come to be OK with arriving closer to opening of 10:00. If we couldn’t get into the live room, we could get into a simulcast room. If we didn’t get into a simulcast room, we could watch it on our phones. No worries.
