Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras have come and gone. In two day’s time, we’ll be seeing folks donning green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day (whether or not they are of Irish heritage lol). All wonderful celebrations, to be sure, in which throngs of people participate. Joyfully. But you know what? Not a one of them can hold a candle to the celebration that will descend upon Anaheim, California in just a little over one month’s time. You know it! Celebration VII is just around the corner! 🙂
The only thing is — I won’t be there to celebrate with all of you going.
I came to terms with this fact quite some time ago. It just wasn’t in the cards for me this time around. The timing didn’t work out for me. Such is life. Am I disappointed? Hmm … I don’t know if “disappointed” is the right adjective to use. Do I wish I was going to be in Anaheim with all of you heading there to celebrate Star Wars? Heck yes! Of course I do! I’m going to miss seeing many of my friends who I haven’t seen in a long, long time. I certainly will miss the opportunity to immerse myself in everything Star Wars for a long weekend. And I will miss visiting the Coffee With Kenobi panel (check your program guide for place and time!). Yet, I cannot complain. I have been to five of the first six Celebrations (I missed CII in Indianapolis — again, the timing didn’t work out). That’s not a bad record. 🙂
Since I am unable to join you, I have two simple requests for those of you going…
Please take lots and lots of pictures, and come back with Super Star Destroyer loads of memories to share! I want to hear everything! I want to know what you saw and did, what your favorite panels were, who you had the opportunity to meet. 😀
You might be asking yourself right about now why I’m making this plea when CVII is still a month away. Well, there’s a reason for this madness. 🙂 You see, my March 30 blog will be devoted to the next installment of “The ABCs of Star Wars,” and by the time my April 15 blog rolls around, those of you headed for sunny Southern California might be a bit too busy and so excited you might forget to visit me at Melinda’s Brew. 😉 So, keep your camera batteries charged (and your phones, too, if they will serve as your recording devices), and your eyes and ears open — to record everything so you can share your experiences with those of us who can’t go. 🙂 Thank you so much!
I am so excited for you! Probably almost as excited as you are yourselves. Please have the time of your lives! Please store as many wonderful memories in your memory banks as you can. (Wouldn’t it be nice to have your own astromech droid?) I wish I could be there with you — in person — but since I cannot, I will be there in Force spirit. 🙂 I’ll be waiting with bated breath for all of your stories. 🙂
Two hundred seventy-eight days and counting…
Until next time, MTFBWY 🙂
