A double-dose of the main Star Wars title in July as A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back are bridged, Star Wars: Aftermath author Chuck Wendig returns to Marvel with the Darth Vader annual and finally the answer is revealed to the question: Where were Snap, Jess, Pava and the rest of Black Squadron during The Last Jedi in the pages of Poe Dameron.
For Star Wars fans, news that issues 50-51 are bridging the films is welcome, if not enthralling. Writer Kieron Gillen made it clear he’s more than excited about doing so.
“When I was asked to take over the book, having a big story for the magical issue #50 was very much in my goals,” Gillen told Marvel in a statement released by the publisher.
“As such, I’ve spent the first 12 issues building up to this, which is basically the biggest story I’ve told in Star Wars. It’s an event-level tragedy on an epic scale, and it’s designed as the key bridging piece between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back,” Gillen added. “I also haven’t written Darth Vader in ages, so now’s the time to start having my lightsaber fun again!”
July’s Marvel Star Wars comics titles include Star Wars 50 and 51, Lando: Double or Nothing 3, Doctor Aphra 22, Darth Vader Annual 2, Darth Vader 18, Poe Dameron 29, Thrawn 6 and The Last Jedi Adaptation 4.

Wilhuff Tarkin and Orson Krennic: the massive battle station being built on Geonosis. Opportunity arises when the project is hindered by sabotage from unknown forces. Surely even rogue archaeologist DOCTOR APHRA can’t find a way to make things even worse. Wrong. Because her current beau and her ex are just about to meet.
Lando’s luck ran out when he was captured by Batalla. Batalla’s in luck with a big payoff if he turns Lando over to his enemies. And there’s a lot of them. Will a galaxy of bad guys finally get their due against the ultimate thorn in their side?
