Comics With Kenobi #35

It’s autumn up here in our hemisphere.

While leaves are falling, and the countdown clock is flipping closer and closer to Star Wars: The Last Jedi, we’re slating our Star Wars thirst with a bevy of Star Wars comics from Marvel and IDW Publishing, as well as a couple of young upstarts from down in central Florida, too.

September’s comics ran the gamut from Prequel Trilogy-era events in the Clone Wars, to Original Trilogy-era nefariousness to Sequel Trilogy-era malfeasance.

There was also a Dickensian-inspired Sithmas carol that brought us a bunch of Darths, including Bane, Malgus and Vader.

As for news? Well, there’s going to be lots of treats and few tricks during October. New York Comic Con is Oct. 5-8 and we may be getting some announcements on some new comics titles or events (or maybe not).

Writer Charles Soule went deep into his plans for Poe Dameron and Darth Vader in an interview with CBR. It’s a profound read and the previews of art by Angel Unzueta on Poe Dameron and Giuseppe Camuncoli, with colors by David Curiel, are sure to surprise.

As for IDW’s Star Wars Adventures title, Alan Tudyk is co-writing a Cassian Andor and K-2SO backup story in issue 3, while writer Delilah S. Dawson, who wrote the Star Wars novel Phasma and the novella The Perfect Weapon, is slated to write a story for the series, too.

There’s also the buildup to The Last Jedi.

A one-shot due Dec. 27 — Storms of Crait — is expected to provide some of the backstory for that planet’s appearance on the film, not to mention unforgettable presence in Claudia Gray’s novel, Leia, Princess of Alderaan.

Could there be more? Only Marvel and StarWars.com know for sure.
