I’m banned off a Facebook temporarily ( long story LOL) so I have been unable to share MY thoughts on the new trailer online with anyone…until now! SO glad for this one because I wanna chime in:

    I…LOVE…IT.

    That’s the short version.

Now, it was VERY different from what I expected. I expected to see the old characters we’re familiar with…Luke, Han, Leia etc…so all these NEW faces kinda threw me a bit.

Who are these people? hat are they DOING? Of course, this is just a teaser, it’s not going to TELL us anything.

All we get is some basics: There are still rebels ( and X-Wings) and they’re still fighting the Empire in some form ( Stormtroopers, TIE Fighters etc.) and apparently at least one new SITH.

The voice over tells us there’s an “Awakening” of The Force…”the Darkside…AND the Light.” ( Hence our subtitle)

Which hints that BOTH sides have been asleep the past 30 years. Which tells me there’s no new Jedi Order ( despite the now defunct EU universe) so…what had Luke been DOING the past 30 years if the Force was “asleep?”

We’ve all assumed The Light Side WON and the Good Guys finally defeated the Empire after ROTJ (again, if you throw out or ignore the EU books etc.) but apparently the conflict still thrives, but as for Force users?

This opens up the question of whether Leia ever actually became a Jedi now, let alone any children of Luke’s or Leias. Again we’ve made assumptions based on the EU but now….who KNOWS where this is going? I don’t think it’s going to be ANYTHING close to what we expected!

Which I for one am happy about. I loved a lot of the EU stories, don’t get me wrong, but now….we get a whole new fresh story line with the only back story being…the FILMS.

I could go on and on, and maybe I will later LOL.

Oh and count me in if you want some live discussion on the new trailer; if I can contribute I’d love to.

Dan, why did you think that the stormtroopers wouldn’t be around? You mentioned, “They haven’t been around for 30 years.” (A) Stormtroopers are around … even after ROTJ. I know you aren’t a fan of the EU, but the Empire does exist after the destruction of the second Death Star. Of course there’d be an army. Just saying …

    😉

I think it’s silly to speculate about what this ONE trailer means … in the way of what Episode VII MIGHT have in store for us fans. The ONE intention was to wet our appetites, even whet them. 😉

I loved the trailer. It looks like there’s going to be enough of what is familiar to fans, plus some new aspects. The biggest problem facing fans now is many will try to surmise what is going to transpire in the new film. If it doesn’t follow one’s mindset, one will be disappointed — and then one will be cheated of what most likely will be a fun film. (That was the problem facing TPM. I hope fans remember that.)

    Enjoy! 🙂
