At the time of writing this I am sipping a cup of coffee and reflecting on my return trip to Skellig Michael, my second trip in the space of three months. To say that the island itself is out of this world is most definitely an understatement. Located seven miles off the coast of Kerry and being a native of the area I often threatened to make the trip out to the historic site, but there was always some reason or another that prevented me doing so (mainly procrastination).
Naturally when it came time to view Skellig Michael on theatre screens as Ahch-To in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi my procrastination took a back seat to my enthusiasm and I arranged a trip out in May with several of my friends and then when my fiancée informed me that she would like to visit the island I was more than happy to oblige and arrange a second trip in August!
Force Friday II has landed! Hallmark is in on the fun with all-new releases, from itty bittys to Keepsake Ornaments made to celebrate the galaxy far, far away. And to get you (even more) excited for Star Wars: The Last Jedi!
Check out the Force Friday offerings below:
Nearly two years since it’s cinematic release, Star Wars: The Force Awakens remains a riveting, albeit familiar, tale that has propelled the Skywalker family saga ever forward.
The film is a lightning rod but regardless of one’s opinion, it did kickstart Star Wars into a new dawn and ensured that the Saga remains just as vital and enthralling as it did with the release of A New Hope in 1977. Still, it’s a story that has run its course.
Which is why it was puzzling, at first, when IDW Publishing and Lucasfilm announced plans for another adaptation of the movie (the first being Marvel’s six-issue 2016 mini series that fell short), this time as a graphic novel done in the so-called Disney animation style.
I was hesitant. I was lukewarm to the notion. I needn’t have been either.
Fans of the mysterious Captain Phasma, first seen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, are not only anticipating her return in The Last Jedi, but are also looking forward to exploring more of her own story. Everyone will be able to do just that when the upcoming novel, Phasma, by Delilah S. Dawson, is released on Force Friday, September 1.
In addition to the regular edition, several retailers will have exclusive double-sided posters to go along with the release. Walmart, Target, and Barnes & Noble will each have a different poster to offer.
