When Andy Serkis was a teenager, he was thrilled by seeing Star Wars on the big screen. Now, he’s part of Saga himself! He’s understandably excited – but probably not as excited as another member of his family:

“My brother, who is five years younger than me, this means more to him than anything I’ve ever done in my entire life,” Serkis said, laughing. “I’m more joyous for him than anything else, in a way.”

The elder Serkis is playing an as yet undisclosed character(s), but it’s widely assumed that his motion capture talents are what will be on display when Episode VII hits theaters on December 18, 2015. In an interview with MTV, he was mum on any details, but he did say that Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher are up to the challenge that comes with returning to the roles that made them icons.

He also said that the initial table read with the cast – veterans and newbies – was “was quite an extraordinary feeling.”

I love to hear the ripple effect starring in a Star Wars film has on the actors’ family and friends. 🙂 I can imagine very well AS’s brother being so ecstatic over AS’s role in Episode VII! 🙂 I still get tickled beyond belief when I think about Erin going to the same film school George Lucas attended … walking down the same hallways … sitting in the same classrooms … working in the same booths. The “old” film school building was demolished when she was a sophomore at USC, and it was George Lucas’ generous gift to his alma mater that gave Erin, her classmates, and all the up-and-coming filmmakers who have/will be attending USC the opportunity to enjoy learning in their state-of-the-art facility. And while GL didn’t actually attend any classes as a student in the new film school, he has been there. I guess I still can enjoy that giddy feeling. 🙂
