Fans didn’t need to look far for Star Wars content in 2017. From television to books, comics, and movies, Star Wars adventures were found in abundance. Plus, Star Wars debuted new ways to engage with the galaxy far, far away with the introduction of Star Wars Destinies and Battle Front II. Indeed, Star Wars provided fans with an embarrassment of riches when it came to content this year. Here is some of the content and developments in Star Wars that impressed me the most from the past year. Read more

With a return to the sequel trilogy era in the form of The Last Jedi on the horizon, it becomes only natural to wonder about the place of Rogue One (a standalone story) in the cultural zeitgeist. In many ways, this film–that was highly successful on a number of fronts–has essentially slipped from the public’s consciousness. But with “In the Name of the Rebellion,” this week’s episode of Star Wars Rebels, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story gets a powerful burst of relevance.

The fourth season of Star Wars Rebels opens with an episode that packs a punch–albeit one a bit weaker than it might have. At its core, “The Heroes of Mandalore” is about legacy–what one leaves behind–and for Sabine, it’s about the sins of the past infecting the present. Fortunately for the Ghost’s (erstwhile?) demolitions expert, the cost of her bygone indiscretions are somewhat mollified.

Core Worlds Couture With Jay Krebs
Welcome back to another edition of Core Worlds Couture! This week, its a two-for-one-deal: a review and a jewelry tutorial!
A few weeks ago, I was searching for some simple porg merch – namely a badge-pin to add to my ever-growing collection – and I ran across a re-tweeted post in Twitter from @My Squadron Goals. So, I clicked on over to the Etsy store (named Squadron Goals) to purchase the pin, and was greeted by an adorable arrangement of Star Wars goodies: enamel pins, phone charms, stickers, and bumper stickers. The shop owner, Courtney Morelock, was kind enough to agree to send me a few phone charms and pins, in addition to the porg badge-style pin I had purchased. As it turns out, Courtney is also one half of “Who Talks First,” a podcast she co-hosts with her friend, Solo.

Very simply put, this is the most important thing you can come to grips with, and become part of. And yeah, me, of the first estate by vocation, I will teach this to the bitter end. There are evil and nefarious forces in the world masquerading as goodness, trying to steal the inherent beauty in each of us. There are greedy people trying to gain unlimited power through the theft of the beauty each of us possesses.

The third season of Star Wars Rebels has proven to be an astounding one that somehow surpassed the greatness of a second season that heavily featured Ahsoka Tano, Darth Vader and a climactic battle between the two. From the numerous Rogue One connections to the end of Maul, Rebels established its rightful place within the overall saga and continued to show on a weekly basis how crucial the show has become as an avenue for augmenting the established Star Wars canon. The last three episodes I’ll be covering in this post exemplify that importance.
