It’s A Small Galaxy After All

If you are a Star Wars fan (and there’s a pretty good chance you are if you’re reading this) then it’s likely that at some point in your life you have dreamed of venturing into that galaxy far, far away. Perhaps you’ve imagined yourself locking laser swords with Darth Vader or riding shotgun with Han Solo in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. Maybe you’ve even pretended you’re really tall and covered in thick brown hair–it’s OK, we don’t judge around here.

While we sadly cannot ever make these fantasies a reality, there are a couple of ways we can come pretty close. One is by attending a Star Wars Celebration. The other method is to visit a Disney park.

Episode WDW: The Force Grows Stronger at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Star Wars is Awesome! And Disney’s Hollywood Studios is reminding us of that every day.  With experiences such as Star Tours: The Adventure Continues, Star Wars Launch Bay, Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular, and Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, the force is strong.  However, today will be a day long remembered, as two new Star Wars experiences have begun to be presented right in the center of the park, giving the entire park a Star Wars presence, teasing us of a Star Wars land that is just now being developed.

The Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away stage show and a First Order Stormtrooper Squadron, now grace the Hub Area of the park, on a brand new, tripped out stage that seems to have been built just for this occasion.  Announced back on February 19, 2016 on the Disney Parks Blog along with the announcement of a new nighttime spectacular, these two experiences have already been received with huge success.

Mickey’s Jedi Blend: Star Wars Weekends Week 3 Report

Mickey's Jedi Blend

So, coming off of week two, I was thinking the weekends couldn’t get any better than that. Then week three happened. It was not only the most fun to date, but I was more active this week than any other. I have the blisters on the bottoms of my feet to prove it.

The day started out a lot later than normal, with me arriving in the autograph lines about quarter till seven on Saturday morning. The reason being is a few days earlier I had no voice, so I figured it would be better to get a little more rest than push myself and knock myself out for the long count. It worked out great as my partner in crime Robert and I both secured passes to meet the man behind Zeb, Steve Blum.

Mickey’s Jedi Blend: Star Wars Weekends Week Two Report

Mickey's Jedi Blend

Time sure flies when you are having fun. Like the blink of an eye, week two of Star Wars Weekends came to a close Sunday, and what a day it was. This weekend brought us the very talented Warwick Davis (Wicket from Return of the Jedi), Silas Carson (Ki-Adi-Mundi and Nute Gunray from the prequels), and the lovely Vanessa Marshall from Star Wars Rebels.

Now I will admit, I did change my plans. I originally wanted to meet Silas Carson, since he was someone I haven’t had the opportunity to meet. Yet, after walking through my memories of last year, I really wanted to see Vanessa again. So, Silas took a back seat as I arrived at Hollywood Studios and jumped into line to claim my chance to see Hera all over again.

Mickey’s Jedi Blend: My Star Wars Weekends Itinerary and More

Mickey's Jedi Blend

Celebration is over.

I was unable to go this year but through StarWars.com’s live stream and all the great coverage from Dan, Cory, and my fellow bloggers here, I definitely felt like I was there. So I want to take this quick moment to thank my CWK family as well as everyone at StarWars.com who ran the live stream for all of their coverage! It was definitely the next best thing to being there in person!

With that said, let us turn our eyes to Star Wars next big event: Star Wars Weekends 2015!

We are just weeks away from opening weekend and this promises to be an incredible year! With an impressive guest list covering the movies to Rebels and The Clone Wars; I know my schedule will be busy for sure. With special guests like Ian McDiarmid and Frank Oz in the mix as well, we are looking at a couple of record-setting weekends when it comes to attendance like we had last year with Mark Hamill.

So everyone right now is on a countdown to Celebration Anaheim and the excitement as the dates draw closer is electric. You can’t touch social media without Celebration being mention or discussed in some way shape or form. I can only imagine what it will be like with The Force Awakens right around the corner. Unfortunately, attending Celebration isn’t in the cards for me this year.

It’s all good though, it gives me the chance to focus on the upcoming Star Wars Weekends 2015. That’s right, not long after the close of Celebration Anaheim, fan focus turns to Orlando, Florida for the annual event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  Now we do have a couple of months to prepare, and trust me I am. I’ll fill you in when I can and when plans are finalized, but for now, let’s reminisce of some of the best Celebrity encounters I have had at Star Wars Weekends. These are the most memorable ones for me.
