Is this thing on? Can you hear us? Are we getting through?
YES WE ARE!
After a technical snafu delayed Jeff McGee and Matt Moore, the daring duo have roared back into the Dragon Run to give it another go and what a go it was, what with the latest issues of Star Wars, Star Wars: Poe Dameron and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Besides comics, we break down the latest news out of the just-concluded New York Comic Con. There’s also some detail about December’s first two issues of the mercurially titled (for now) Star Wars: Classified , along with a fond look at the upcoming conclusion to Star Wars: Darth Vader.
The latest issue of Comics With Kenobi is sure to edify AND entertain and it’s all for cheap-as-free.
The quick take?
It was a great month for some solid storytelling, superb art and, more importantly, some grounded, well-founded speculation about what role the comics have, so far, played in the Star Wars Saga series of films from events set between the films A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, to intriguing information not shown in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. (Can you spy a pair of familiar Jedi Knights in this panel from The Force Awakens #4?)
There’s also the notion that what we’re reading now may be setting the stage for what has yet to come, such as speculation — and that’s all it is — about Sana Starros and what may, or may not be, a role in the upcoming Han Solo film?
Or how about the way that Rebel Allliance Leader Mon Mothma identifies strong leaders that help not just power the Rebel Alliance, but strike back at the Empire with fierce determination, too? Say someone like Princess Leia, in whom she sees the grit, determination and spirit of a certain Jyn Erso?
Also, astromechs! Lots of astromechs!
